Petts Wood & Knoll Ward, as the name suggests covers the town centre & residential area of Petts Wood & the residential area between Petts & Orpington known as The Knoll. Petts Wood is split into East & West by the railway station & is believed to be named after the woodland, owned by the Pett family, which existed before 1930 when many of the current houses were built. Petts Wood Town centre has a large selection of small, independently owned shops & restaurants at its heart, creating a vibrant centre that is rare in the days of increasingly homogenised high-streets.

The Station Square area of Petts Wood town centre is part of a Conservation area, with Petts Wood East being an Area of Special Residential Character (ASRC).   Petts Wood West & The Knoll are quiet suburban residential areas. The Knoll sits between Petts Wood East & Orpington High Street. The Conservatives, in particular the Conservative Councillors for the Ward, work hard to ensure that both Petts Wood & The Knoll maintain their quiet & characterful appeal to residents.

First elected to Petts Wood & Knoll Ward in May 2006, Simon has taken a keen interest in planning matters and the plight of residents affected by the Biggin Hill Airport flight path. Simon supports the protection given to the Areas of Special Residential Character (ASRCs) and Conservation Areas within the ward and looks to protect our area from inappropriate development. Simon regularly posts useful local information on Facebook. Currently serving as the Chairman of the Executive , Resources and Contracts Committee also Vice-Chairman of a planning sub-committee. Keith Onslow is a Conservative councillor for Petts Wood & Knoll ward. I live in the heart of Petts Wood and take daily interest in the issues that affect all residents locally. I have been a committee Member of OCA Petts Wood Branch for 14 years, partly as Chairman. I was first elected to the Council in 2014 representing Chelsfield and Pratt’s Bottom. I was elected to Petts Wood and Knoll Ward in 2018.
