The adult residents of Biggin Hill have also played their part. A second litter sweep by Biggin Hill Residents Association and the Friends of Biggin Hill Parks collected 27 sacks of waste from Main Road in two hours on Sunday morning the 10th September. Melanie worked alongside the volunteers to help tidy our streets. This litter was mainly from private property, such as shop frontages, which are the responsibility of the business owner and are not cleared by the Council.
We would ask all Main Road businesses to regularly check the front and side of their premises to ensure that litter is cleared, also to remove any weed growth. This will dramatically improve the appearance of their businesses. First Impressions do count.
Everyone can also help by not dropping litter in the street, particularly cigarette butts, which although individually small, form a large part of the litter collected.
